Considering Cosmetic Dentistry in Huntsville, AL?

If you have questions about BOTOX, we would be happy to speak with you! Our dental team is committed to helping you create a treatment plan that suits your smile goals, budget, and timeline.

Call our dental office at (256) 539-4079 to get started today.

Botulinum Toxin Type A, commonly known as BOTOX®, is a powerful neurotoxin that temporarily paralyzes muscles into which it's injected. When applied to the areas around an individual’s forehead, eyes, and mouth, it relaxes the muscles and smoothes out wrinkles, creating a more youthful appearance. In addition to its non-surgical cosmetic applications, BOTOX is also an effective treatment for conditions including chronic migraines.

It’s advised to avoid exercise for at least 24 hours after receiving BOTOX injections, as strenuous activity increases blood flow and can cause the BOTOX to migrate from the injection site. This can result in compromised effectiveness and unintended side effects like drooping eyelids or uneven muscle relaxation.

Activities involving bending over or lying down for extended periods can also exacerbate this effect. Light activities like walking are considered safe, but high-intensity workouts, heavy lifting, and yoga inversions should be avoided immediately after BOTOX injections.

To ensure optimal results with minimal risk from your BOTOX injections, follow all specific post-procedure recommendations from your healthcare provider.

If our emergency dentist in Huntsville finds that you need root canal treatment, we make sure the area is numb before beginning work.

Once the tooth is numb, your dentist extracts the infected pulp and root from the tooth. We then use a temporary filling to promote healing. At a later appointment, your dentist either places a tooth-colored filling or a dental crown—the latter if the tooth is weakened by infection.

At Twickenham Family Dentistry, we believe that if you are in pain, or if your oral health is at risk, that it is always a dental emergency.

We never want you to be in pain or a state of anxiety, so we will get you in to see Dr. Cook as soon as possible. For emergencies, we usually provide same-day appointments.

If the chip is minimal and you are not in pain, a same-day appointment may not be necessary. However, you will still need treatment.

What If I’m Bleeding?

Cosmetic Dentistry

Many of our Huntsville patients take excellent care of their teeth. They visit the dentist regularly for dental exams and professional teeth cleanings, and they never skip brushing and flossing. Yet they are not happy with the appearance of their teeth—slightly twisted or crooked.

Fortunately, our cosmetic dentist in Huntsville, AL can conceal a variety of tooth flaws, including crooked teeth.

The first step is an appointment in our dental office. You and Dr. Cook will discuss your smile goals and determine which cosmetic options are right for you. Considerations include the state of your oral health—including your gums—your budget, and your lifestyle. At Twickenham Family Dentistry, we want to provide you with a beautiful smile that functions as it should.

In our dental office, we use porcelain veneers to conceal smile flaws. These are thin shells that go over the front of your teeth, giving the illusion of a perfectly symmetrical smile. Veneers were a long-time secret of celebrities, but now they are available in our Huntsville, AL dental office.

Veneers in Huntsville also conceal discoloration, gaps between teeth, shape issues, and worn teeth.

We look forward to helping you realize your best smile with our quality cosmetic dentistry in Huntsville, AL.

If you've lived your life with chipped or broken teeth, stained or yellowed teeth, or even spaces or gaps between your teeth, we have good news for you! Porcelain veneers might be just the solution you're looking for.

Dr. Cook may recommend dental veneers in Huntsville to cover cosmetic imperfections and create the smile you've always wanted.

A veneer is a thin sliver of porcelain designed to fit over your tooth and blend seamlessly with your smile. You can use them to repair one or a few teeth, or better yet, they can redesign your smile by changing the shade, shape, or size of your teeth to create a uniform appearance.

Porcelain veneers are durable and stain-resistant, which means they can last for many years without losing their brightness. They are also simple to take care of as you'll be able to brush and floss as usual.

If you are interested in learning more about porcelain veneers in Huntsville, we encourage you to schedule a smile evaluation with Dr. Cook. During this visit, he'll discuss your smile goals with you and let you know which dental procedures can help you get the look you want to achieve.

Your new smile is just a phone call away! Give Twickenham Family Dentistry a call today to schedule your dental appointment.

Porcelain veneers and dental bonding fall under the cosmetic dentistry umbrella and both options can really improve your smile. However, there are several key differences.

Porcelain veneers in Huntsville, AL are thin ceramic shells that cover the fronts of teeth. They can conceal gummy smiles, slightly crooked and worn teeth, and correct symmetrical issues, similar to a celebrity-style makeover.

Before your dentist bonds your veneers to your teeth, they remove a small amount of enamel to flush them with surrounding teeth. This prevents the veneers from appearing bulky. Because we remove some enamel, this makes veneers a permanent cosmetic dentistry treatment.

Dental bonding relies on composite resin—or the same material we use in tooth-colored fillings. Your dentist can spread this resin across a chipped, discolored, or misshapen tooth to enhance its appearance. Dental bonding is not a permanent solution, but it can last for many years with proper care.

Bonding is a less expensive option than dental veneers, but veneers are the better option for a more dramatic smile enhancement.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

A dental crown is a restoration designed to closely mimic and completely cover a severely damaged or decayed tooth. The crown closely mimics your compromised tooth's shape and shade to blend flawlessly into your smile.

Our dentists typically recommend porcelain crowns for visible teeth because they can customize the porcelain to complement your smile. However, gold crowns may be recommended for molars. Gold is durable and biocompatible, making it an excellent choice for teeth that absorb the most impact of chewing force.

The Process of Completing Dental Crowns in Huntsville, AL

You'll need two visits with your Huntsville dentist to complete a dental crown.

At the first visit, your dentist prepares your tooth for its new restoration, takes impressions of your smile for accuracy, and creates a temporary crown for you to wear while a dental lab handcrafts the final version.

The dental lab will take two to three weeks to finish your final crown. When it's ready, you'll return to Twickenham Family Dentistry to have your new tooth permanently placed by one of our dentists.

We'll make any necessary adjustments to the crown at the time of placement, and then you can enjoy your new tooth fully.

If you have questions about dental crowns, call your team at Twickenham Family Dentistry at (256) 539-4079 for more information.

Dental Implants

Dental implant placement is not painful because your dentist thoroughly anesthetizes the area before starting work. After the anesthesia wears off, you may notice mild swelling and discomfort, but this is short-lived and easily treatable with over-the-counter pain relievers.

When it comes to tooth replacement, dental implants are the preferred method of most dentists. With implants, your tooth root and crown are restored, and dental implants are the only option available today that offer full anatomy restoration.

A dental implant in Huntsville, AL is an artificial tooth root made of durable materials that can integrate into human bone. When integration and healing are complete, your dentist tops your implant with a dental crown. If you have full or sporadic tooth loss, ask your Huntsville dentist about implant-supported dentures or bridges.

When you receive your tooth crown, it is also not painful. And after a period of adjustment on your part, you may well forget that you have a dental implant.

If you would like more information about our dental implants or other tooth replacement options, reach out to a friendly staff member today to arrange your consultation. We look forward to helping you achieve a full and comfortable smile.

Dental implants are an excellent tooth replacement option for a variety of reasons. Dental implants are easy to maintain, they look and feel natural, and they provide the same function as a natural tooth, which keeps your jawbone healthy.

Dental implants are also a long-lasting tooth replacement option. But how much life will you really get out of a dental implant? The answer is one reason why we love dental implants! With proper care and maintenance, the dental implant itself can last a lifetime.

To fully answer this question, however, we need to address the parts of your dental implant: the dental crown, which is the “tooth” or the visible portion of the tooth replacement, and the abutment, which attaches the implant to the crown.

Since the crown functions as the tooth, it is exposed to more damage than the implant, which means it may need replacement at some point. However, with an excellent oral hygiene routine and adherence to some precautions, like avoiding hard or chewy foods, even the dental crown can last over a decade.

How Do I Care for a Dental Implant?

Fortunately, caring for dental implants is simple. Care for them as you care for your natural teeth.

At Twickenham Family Dentistry, we recommend that you brush and floss your teeth at least twice every day. Also, for the benefit of your natural teeth and your dental implant, you should visit our dental office at least twice a year for a checkup and dental cleaning. Regular dental cleanings are a vital part of maintaining your oral health and prolonging the life of your dental implant.

Additionally, try to avoid eating hard or sticky foods, as mentioned above, and try to break habits that could damage the dental crown attached to your implant, like chewing on your fingernails.

If you grind your teeth, Dr. Cook may also recommend a nightguard to help protect your teeth from pressure and wear.

Other Factors That Affect the Lifespan of a Dental Implant

In addition to proper care and maintenance, other factors can affect the lifespan of your dental implant.

Location of the Implant

Implants at the back of the mouth generally do not enjoy the same longevity as implants near the front of the mouth. This is due to the intense pressure that your back teeth undergo when chewing.

Gum Disease

With gum disease, the gums may recede, causing damage to your natural teeth and your dental implant. A good oral hygiene routine and regular visits to the dentist can help prevent gum disease. Also, we highly recommend avoiding tobacco products, such as cigarettes, to keep your gums healthy.

We want our patients to enjoy a lifetime of use out of their dental implants, and we want you to enjoy the best oral health possible. If you have any questions about properly caring for your dental implants, reach out to the dental team at Twickenham Family Dentistry.

If you need root canal treatment, it is always an urgent matter. A root canal treatment means you have a root infection or tooth trauma. Without intervention, the infection can spread, and you can lose your tooth and other teeth.

Sometimes a root infection does not cause pain. This happens if the infection is just starting or if the nerveclose up of x-ray | emergency dentist huntsville al is dead. Other times our Huntsville patients will report a toothache, tooth sensitivity, jaw pain, and a blister on the gum.

Whether your root infection or trauma is painful or comes without symptoms, it should be treated as soon as possible.

How Does Root Canal Treatment Work?

If our emergency dentist in Huntsville finds that you need root canal treatment, we make sure the area is numb before beginning work.

Once the tooth is numb, your dentist extracts the infected pulp and root from the tooth. We then use a temporary filling to promote healing. At a later appointment, your dentist either places a tooth-colored filling or a dental crown—the latter if the tooth is weakened by infection.

At Twickenham Family Dentistry, we believe that if you are in pain, or if your oral health is at risk, that it is always a dental emergency.

Tooth-colored fillings are the most popular cavity treatment restoration. Dentists relied on silver amalgam in the past, but today, most dentists and patients prefer a more natural-looking option.

Reasons to Choose Tooth-Colored Fillings in Huntsville, AL

  • Keep more of your natural tooth structure compared with a silver amalgam.
  • Enjoy a natural-looking filling that does not draw attention to itself.
  • Composite resin in tooth-colored fillings can also fill cracks and conceal tooth flaws.
  • Feel confident knowing that your tooth-colored filling is durable.
  • Tooth-colored fillings do not expand or contract with hot liquid, as do amalgam fillings.
  • Tooth-colored fillings are mercury-free for peace of mind.

More About Tooth-Colored Fillings

Tooth-colored fillings are made with strong composite resin applied in layers after treating your tooth. Your dentist can use this same resin in cosmetic dentistry to bond and fill unsightly or flawed teeth affordably.

Additionally, patients prefer tooth-colored fillings to their silver counterparts because they are aesthetically pleasing.

The benefits of cosmetic fillings are many, and we think you’ll be pleased with the results. If you have a lot of silver fillings, talk to your dentist about switching these to our tooth-colored option.

Contact Your Huntsville Dentist Today

If you have silver fillings you’d like to replace or suspect a new cavity, we encourage you to contact a dental team member to arrange a visit with the dentist today.

At Twickenham Family Dentistry, we provide tooth-colored fillings to match your natural smile. Tooth-colored fillings are made from composite resin and are more aesthetically pleasing than silver amalgam fillings of years past.

The Tooth-Colored Filling Process

  • Exam and X-Rays — Our Huntsville dentist conducts a thorough oral examination, including dental x-rays, to ensure we know the precise location and size of the cavities.
  • Remove Decay and Disinfect the Tooth — Next, we gently and thoroughly remove the decay and disinfect the tooth.
  • Place Filling Material — We carefully place the tooth-colored composite resin into the cavity and mold the resin to match the natural contours of your tooth, ensuring a seamless fit.
  • Cure the Resin — The next step involves using a special light to harden or cure the composite resin. This process solidifies the material quickly, allowing it to bond strongly with the tooth structure.
  • Polish and Adjust — We polish the filling and check your bite to ensure the filling doesn’t interfere with how your teeth come together. We make any necessary adjustments at this time.
  • Final Inspection—Finally, we ensure that the composite's color and shape perfectly blend with your natural teeth, providing functional support and a pleasing appearance.

Pediatric Dentistry

Parental involvement in their children's dental health is important to help them learn good habits early on. One of the best ways you can help your son or daughter have a healthy smile is to establish a good home care routine as early as possible. You can start brushing their teeth as soon as they arrive.

As your child grows, lead by example. Let them see you brushing and flossing your own teeth, and be sure to share proper techniques with them as they get older and take over their own home care routine.

Consistent visits with your Huntsville children's dentist every six months are critical for excellent oral health. These visits should start around age one when the first teeth begin to arrive.

Your kid's dentist will oversee their oral development and may recommend some additional services to help protect their teeth like dental sealants or fluoride treatments. If your son or daughter participates in sports, your dentist can recommend the best sports guard to protect their teeth and mouth from injury.

Let us help you protect your little one's smile and dental health. Call your children's dentist in Huntsville, AL at Twickenham Family Dentistry to schedule your child's next appointment. You can reach us at (256) 539-4079.

Did you know that oral care for babies starts even before the first tooth arrives? It's true! Your Huntsville children's dentist recommends that parents wipe their baby's gums down with a warm washcloth after feedings to remove excess plaque and bacteria.

Brushing should start as soon as the first tooth arrives. Use a small toothbrush with soft bristles designed for infants. You can also use toothpaste that is safe to swallow.

As your little one grows, they can start to brush on their own with your assistance and supervision. Around the age of three or four years old, you can include fluoride toothpaste in their brushing routine when they are able to spit.

Kids will need assistance brushing their teeth until they're about seven or eight years old. Even after they take over, it's good for parents to check on brushing technique and still supervise once in a while to make sure kids are successfully removing plaque from their teeth.

You can make oral home care fun for your son or daughter by including them in decisions about their toothbrush or toothpaste. Your children's dentist in Huntsville is also here to help if you have questions about your little one's dental care or you need more tips for their home care routine.

We recommend bringing your child to the dentist when you notice their first tooth. This is typically around the six-month mark. But, of course, you can bring your child before then if you have specific concerns or questions for your child’s dentist in Huntsville, AL.

First, we want to familiarize your child with the dental clinic atmosphere from an early age. This helps them feel more comfortable and at ease during treatment. We also like to make sure teeth are coming in as they should and that their jaw is developing correctly to accommodate their teeth.

The first few appointments involve checking the teeth, gums, and jaw health. We also provide your child a ride in the dental chair and spend time getting to know them. This is also a great opportunity to ask questions or talk to a team member about any concerns. Additionally, we can provide at-home dental care tips and nutrition counseling if needed.

Sedation Dentistry

Our goal at Twickenham Family Dentistry is to provide the kind of gentle, comfortable care that eliminates the need for sedation. But we are always happy to offer mild nitrous oxide sedation for our Huntsville, AL patients who want to relax completely during their procedure. Young woman receiving nitrous oxide at Huntsville dentist

Nitrous oxide is a safe gas that’s mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small nasal mask. As you do, you’ll start to feel a wave of relaxation and a comforting sense of well-being. You won’t go to sleep, and you will be conscious enough to communicate with your dental care team. We will monitor you carefully and adjust the mixture as needed to keep you comfortable.

Benefits of Sedation Dentistry

Our busy patients appreciate nitrous oxide because they know they'll leave our Huntsville dental office feeling refreshed and ready to get back to their busy day. That’s because we only administer nitrous oxide for the duration of your procedure. When Dr. Cook completes with your treatment, we switch the mixture to pure oxygen that you inhale as the effects quickly dissipate.

Nitrous oxide is perfect if you have dental anxiety or have a lengthy procedure planned. It’s also safe and mild and very useful for children who can’t sit still in the dental chair.

If you think nitrous oxide could benefit you at your next appointment, please call our Huntsville dental office to let us know.

Dental anxiety is a problem for many people, and for some, it’s so overwhelming that they can’t bring themselves to schedule an appointment. For these people—and anyone else who wants a more relaxing experience—sedation dentistry with nitrous oxide is safe and effective.

Dr. Brian Cook is an experienced dentist in Huntsville, and he and his team are trained to safely administer nitrous oxide or laughing gas for your comfort. There are many benefits to choosing sedation dentistry to help you through your next dental appointment.

When you want a more relaxing experience at the dental office, sedation dentistry is a safe and effective way to get the essential care you need. When administered by an experienced Huntsville dentist like Dr. Brian Cook, dental sedation with nitrous oxide can transform your next appointment.

Nitrous oxide is a gas that’s delivered through a small nasal mask. As you breathe it in, the calming effects will hit you almost immediately. You will be fully conscious, but your brain will feel a little “fuzzy,” and the activity around you will seem far away.

When your procedure is finished and we stop the nitrous flow, the effects begin to dissipate immediately. By the time you leave us, you will feel alert and awake, with no drowsiness afterward.

Can Sedation Dentistry in Huntsville, AL Help You?

If you like the idea of relaxing through a dental appointment, call Twickenham Family Dentistry. With the help of nitrous oxide and sedation dentistry, we’ll ensure you have a calm and relaxing experience with us.

Sleep Apnea and TMJ Treatment

Do you feel drained throughout the day? Do you wake up with headaches? If so, you may have sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is a condition that causes you to stop and start breathing repeatedly through the night. Due to the constant starting and stopping of your breathing, your body struggles to maintain enough oxygen to function properly.

Since you are not getting enough oxygen at night with sleep apnea, you will feel sluggish and tired while awake. Sleep apnea episodes occur while you are sleeping and unaware, which means your daytime symptoms may be your first sign of the disorder.

Other symptoms of sleep apnea include:

  • Loud snoring
  • Waking abruptly, usually while choking or gasping for air
  • Sore throat on waking
  • Dry mouth on waking
  • Mood changes
  • Difficulty concentrating

If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms but have not been diagnosed, contact our office for assistance. We will refer you to a sleep physician who can diagnose your condition.

If you’ve already been diagnosed with sleep apnea, we can work with you and your current physician to best treat your situation.

Sleep Apnea’s Affect on Health and Happiness

Unfortunately, untreated sleep apnea can affect your health and happiness in a variety of ways. Your body needs oxygen to function correctly. Without proper oxygen, you will be extremely fatigued, which means you may have difficulty pursuing everyday activities. Even driving becomes dangerous with sleep apnea due to your increased likelihood of falling asleep behind the wheel.

Sleep apnea has also been linked to several health problems, including headaches, depression, high blood pressure, heart failure, and more.

It is in your best interest, and the best interest of the people around you, to have your sleep apnea diagnosed and treated by a professional.

Sleep Apnea Treatment in Huntsville, AL

At Twickenham Family Dentistry, we treat sleep apnea with the SomnoDent oral appliance. SomnoDent is non-invasive, and it’s a great option for people who haven’t had success with CPAP equipment.

The SomnoDent is easy-to-use. Simply slip it in your mouth before you go to sleep at night. The oral appliance guides your lower jaw forward, which keeps your airway clear as you sleep.

If you’re ready for sleep apnea treatment, reach out to our dental office today. Dr. Cook would love to help you enjoy a more active, healthy life by treating your sleep apnea!

The joint connecting the jaw to the skull is known as the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Place your fingers in front of your ears; you can feel the joint when you move your jaw. This joint lets you move your jaw up and down as well as side to side, allowing you to talk, eat, sing, and yawn. When it isn't functioning correctly, it can cause pain in your face and neck and make it difficult to even open your mouth. This is known as TMJ disorder or TMD.

When we're talking about preventative measures, at the moment, there isn't enough evidence to show that treatment can prevent TMJ disorders. Studies have shown that orthodontic treatment does not prevent TMJ problems and does not cause them either. Treatment should be based on a misaligned bite that can be corrected, not on a TMJ issue. Additionally, grinding and clenching of the jaw during the night can cause jaw pain—which can be corrected with a nighttime mouthguard.

Looking for TMJ Treatment in Huntsville, Alabama?

Do you clench your jaw? Grind your teeth? Have arthritis? Are you under a lot of stress and find that you carry most of it in your jaw and face? Please get in touch with us at Twickenham Family Dentistry if you are experiencing pain or jaw issues.

Dr. Cook can also fit you with a nighttime mouthguard if you have problems with your teeth and jaw. A mouthguard will help keep you from clenching or grinding your teeth in your sleep. If these things don't help relieve your symptoms, you might need other treatments like physical therapy. But most people with TMD get better with self-care and treatment from a dentist.

At Twickenham Family Dentistry, we understand the importance of recognizing and addressing sleep apnea, a common yet often undiagnosed condition. Here are three symptoms of sleep apnea:

1. Loud, Chronic Snoring

One of the most noticeable signs of sleep apnea is loud and chronic snoring. This is often more than just a nuisance to sleeping partners; it can indicate a severe health issue. If your snoring is loud enough to disturb others and happens almost every night, it might be a symptom of sleep apnea.

2. Pauses in Breathing During Sleep

Noticeable pauses in breathing while asleep characterize sleep apnea. These interruptions, often noticed by a partner, can last a few seconds to minutes and are typically followed by a choking or gasping sound. This pattern can repeat many times throughout the night, severely disrupting sleep.

3. Excessive Daytime Sleepiness

Despite getting a full night's sleep, people with sleep apnea often experience excessive daytime sleepiness. This is due to the poor sleep quality caused by repeatedly waking up. If you feel unusually tired during the day, struggle to stay awake during routine activities or experience difficulty concentrating, it might be a sign of sleep apnea.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening can dramatically brighten your smile, lifting away tooth stains and boosting your self-esteem.

In our dental office, we offer ZOOM teeth whitening, which has long been a patient favorite. It is ideal before major milestones like a wedding or class reunion—giving you the confidence to smile in every picture.

If you’re planning on restorative dentistry, it is also a good idea to whiten your teeth beforehand because restorations will not lighten with bleaching gels.

Your dentist will examine your teeth and gums to make sure professional teeth whitening in Huntsville is safe for your teeth. We will also discuss likely results before getting started.

Professional teeth whitening can last for a long time if you follow best practices:

  • Avoid tooth-staining foods and beverages—coffee, wine, red or bright sauces.
  • Stop smoking or using tobacco products.
  • Make sure you are brushing correctly as not to deplete your enamel.
  • Rinse your mouth if you indulge in tooth-staining foods and drinks
  • Always brush before bed.

It’s important to remember that teeth can also darken due to certain medications or as part of the aging process.

With our whitening trays and gel, you can do periodic touchups at home as well.

Tooth Extractions

Yes!

Wisdom teeth are the four teeth located in the very back of your mouth. They typically come through between the ages of 17 and 24, making them the last of your molars to join the fun.

With all your other teeth already happily in place, wisdom teeth can make an awkward appearance to a party that may not be able to accommodate them.

When there isn't enough space for your wisdom teeth, they can become impacted or shift the neighboring teeth and alter the alignment of your smile. None of these are suitable for your oral health and can lead to tooth loss.

The Pain of Impacted Wisdom Teeth

Your wisdom tooth is ready to emerge, but it doesn't; when it remains under the gumline, it is impacted. When it only arises half-way, it is a partially impacted wisdom tooth.

In both scenarios, the wisdom tooth will come in at an angle because there is no room in the mouth. This can create a host of issues, including:

  • Damage to neighboring teeth or the bone
  • Increased risk of tooth decay
  • Pain
  • Increased risk of bacterial infection at the gumline
  • Increased risk of a cyst developing around the impacted tooth

We Can Remove Your Wisdom Tooth and Relieve Pain

If you need a wisdom tooth removed, please call Twickenham Family Dentistry immediately. We know how stressful the thought of a dental extraction can be, which is why we offer sedation dentistry to help ease anxiety.

Our Huntsville, AL restorative dentists will ensure that patients will not feel pain during the procedure, and we invite them to relax while we treat their dental health.

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt. They typically come in during the late teens or early twenties. In some cases, they emerge without issue, but too often, they push on neighboring teeth or only partially erupt. This can cause pain and leave you vulnerable to infection.

The extraction process itself is carefully planned to provide you with the easiest treatment possible.

As far as recovery time, it depends on several factors, including how many wisdom teeth we’re extracting and compliance with aftercare instructions. Your dentist provides specific instructions based on your case, but typically you should avoid drinking through a straw or smoking for 24 hours following tooth extractions. For the first day, it is recommended that you eat only soft foods.

You may notice mild soreness for a few days, but this typically decreases as each day passes. After about five to seven days, you may forget that you’ve had extractions. In any case, the discomfort is usually mild and treatable with over-the-counter pain relievers. Your dentist can make a recommendation.
